From the moment identity resists what fragments it. These paintings explore how a face can emerge through imaginary layers of matter. Everything is painted, without collage, but the surface evokes tears, torn posters, fragments of time. Between figuration and abstraction, the portraits are partially revealed, in a poetics of fragmentation and mystery. The works become contemporary palimpsests where identity appears and disappears to the rhythm of the pictorial matter.
Gasediel is a French artist whose work draws from the world of raw graffiti, torn illegal posters, and the natural erosion of time. Fascinated by marked surfaces, imbalances, and fractures, she reveals the unexpected poetry of the city’s forgotten walls. Through these ephemeral settings, often perceived as breaches of order or good taste, she invites viewers to take a fresh look at urban impermanence.
